Ramping up renewables to power the clean future of inland shipping

On the 17th of November 2022, Horizon Magazine published an article on renewables and a clean future of inland shipping.  Horizon interviewed SEABAT Coordinator Jeroen Stuyts . Along with the interview, Horizon  made an informative video on the impact of the SEABAT project on the maritime sector. Electrification could be key to reducing emissions from the shipping industry, just as we are seeing for cars. But maritime battery technology is still very costly, and not yet mature enough to make full electric shipping widely possible. Now EU-backed researchers (like SEABAT) are working on a modular battery system for ships which can be mass-produced and drastically cut costs.
